Homework Policy

 

Absent Work​

​Students have one day for every day they are absent to complete makeup work.​

Late Work​

This policy has recently been revised.  There will be no penalty for work that is one day late.  For work that is two days late, five points will be deducted from the final score.  Students may also be required to stay in from recess to complete any late/missing work.

 

Assignments that are ultimately not completed will result in a final grade of "I", and must be handed in (showing content mastery with simple flaws allowed) before the student is allowed to progress to the next grade level. Students will ultimately be responsible for all coursework.

Corrections

​This policy has also recently been revised for students in grades 3-5. Work, including assessments, that does not show mastery of content (poor quality work, grave misunderstanding of material) will be subject to a one time redo of the work in question, per the teacher's discretion.  The highest score received for a redo assignment will be an 80%.  Redos must be completed within three days of the assignment being returned. Students will not be allowed to redo work that shows simple errors or minor flaws. 

 

 

Lowest Grade Recorded

The lowest grade recorded for any assignment or assessment will be 60%.  It is much easier to rebound to a higher, more accurate, grade from 60 than it is 0 (or in between).  In our grading system, 60 is still labeled as "Fail", but weighting the grades in this capacity is more fair to the student.
